July 28th, I will have the chance the chance to have a show at the Art Gym in Denver. The opening will be from 4-8, during the Art Gym's annual BBQ potluck. The show is a collaboration with my father who is a DJ, and mixes music. This show is very important and close to my heart for a few reasons. To begin, this will be my first and last opportunity to have my artwork displayed, in such a big manner, here in Colorado. I am following my dreams and moving to New York City soon, which has been a work in progress for a few years now, and now it's finally time for me to take the leap and go. I also love my family like crazy, and will miss them with all of my heart. So I am excited to share this special moment with my Dad, especially because the music that the show is all about, is something that we both are extremely passionate about. Being raised with such a strong love for EDM, Trance, Techno, etc... it has created a nostalgic and important part of my life.
Artist statement about the show:
Dance Until the Sun Comes Up is a blend of abstract pieces, inspired by music that I've come to love, and because of my dad, it has become a big part of my life. My dad used to DJ, and he raised me listening to the music he would mix on his turntables. I've always grown up hearing about how we had turntables instead of a dining table when I was a baby, and being so close to that kind of music growing up makes me feel like it is woven into every fiber of my being. I've always felt that the music we both love is special, and nothing feels more special than to have both of our passions come together to make one masterpiece. …
Each art piece is accompanied by the music that inspired it, to allow the viewers to experience the trancing sensation of the songs that drove me to choose each color, each texture, and visual representation, with intention. Enjoy the scenery and the sounds, and by all means, dance till the sun comes up.
